DC Bandipora reviews progress of Swachh Bharat Mission (G)

Emphasizes maintaining cleanliness & hygiene standards in rural areas to improve public health and overall quality of life

BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel ul Rehman convened a meeting on Tuesday at the Mini Secretariat, here to review the progress of Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in the district.

The primary agenda of the meeting was to review the latest progress and ensure that the implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission (G) is on track. During the meeting, the Assistant Commissioner Development highlighted the progress made so far and areas requiring further attention.

Addressing the participants, the DC stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in rural areas to improve public health and overall quality of life. He directed BDOs to ensure the removal of garbage and waste along roadsides.

He emphasized the importance of monitoring and ensuring the quality and progress of various developmental projects and instructed BDOs to inspect ongoing works in their respective blocks to ensure adherence to timelines and standards.

The DC issued directives to the Block Development Officer (BDO) Gurez to prioritize the removal of litter around camping sites, water bodies, and other tourist hotspots of Gurez Valley. He also instructed the BDO Gurez to implement effective strategies for regular litter collection and disposal.

He directed the Tehsildar Gurez to take immediate steps to curb the use of polythene and plastics in the region and enforce strict measures to reduce the use of polythene bags and plastics across Gurez. He stressed conducting regular checks and market inspections across Gurez to enforce regulations on the use of polythene and plastics.

The DC emphasized the importance of ensuring the cleanliness of water bodies, drains, and canals in rural areas across Bandipora district.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ACD Irfan Bahadur, CPO Mohammad Maqbool, Executive Engineer of the Rural Engineering Wing (REW) in Bandipora, Block Development Officers, and other concerned officials. Tehsildars from the subdivisions of Gurez and Sumbal attended the meeting through virtual mode.
