PULWAMA: In a concerted effort to curb overpricing and the sale of substandard items, a joint team from the Revenue Department, Food Safety authorities, and the Municipal Committee Pulwama conducted a comprehensive market inspection in the main market of Pulwama.
During the inspection, fines were imposed on erring shopkeepers, and substandard, rotten and expired items were destroyed on the spot.
On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, dedicated teams have intensified the market checking across the district in view of Eid ul-Adha.
In total, violations were noted in 20 shops, leading to fines amounting to Rs. 7000 and the issuance of 4 challans against the violators. The inspections ensure adherence to the FSSAI Act, Weights and Measures Act, and the Packing Commodities Rules 2011.
