SAMBA: Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Abhishek Sharma today chaired the district-level committee meeting under Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) here in the Conference Hall, DC office to review the measures initiated to curb drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district.
Among others, the meeting was attended by SSP Samba, Vinay Kumar, ADC Samba, Suresh Sharma, Principal GDC Samba, Vijaypur and Gadhwal, representative from BSF including 2IC Jay Prakash and Deputy Commandant Deepak Kumar, ACR Samba, Kusum Chib, SDM Gaghwal, SDM Vijaypur, DIO and other district and Sectoral officers.
The meeting discussed diverse issues related to the incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern, hot spots of drug use in the district. The meeting also discussed action taken on directions issued in the previous NCORD meeting.
The DC stressed the need of comprehensive awareness programs against drug abuse instructed and all stakeholders to conduct drives in schools, colleges etc. in a holistic approach to target the young population and also by involving parents as well.
The DC underscored the need for sustained efforts from law enforcement agencies to check on use of substances and asked stakeholders to work in a coordinated manner. He also directed the district officers to submit a monthly progress report for compilation of the coffee table book.
Furthermore, SDM’s were directed to convene meetings at sub division level and also conduct random checking of medicine shops and ensure proper installation of CCTV cameras and computerized billing.
