DODA: Deputy Commissioner Doda Harvinder Singh, who is also District Programme Coordinator for MGNREGA, chaired a meeting to review the physical progress achieved under 2023-2024 plan.
The ACD presented a comprehensive report detailing all ongoing and completed works, while DC stressed the importance of timely disbursement of wages to job cardholders, emphasizing that all pending payments should be cleared within the stipulated time frame.
DC Singh issued clear instructions to the Village Level Workers (VLWs) operating in Bhaderwah not to take up any work without the permission from the Chairman of BOKA. Additionally, the DC directed the VLWs to ensure that all Panchayats maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
The meeting also reviewed the status of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) cases and discussed the Geo-tagging of houses under the scheme.
During the meeting, it was noted that approximately 91,000 job cards had been issued, with around 87,000 job card holders actively working. The total number of works completed under MGNREGA in the year 2023-2024 was reported as 5,740, against a total of 20,869 works started during the same period. DC Singh instructed the ACD to organize gram sabhas to review the status of job cardholders, ensuring that the names of those who had not shown demand were deleted after proper verification.
The meeting concluded with a thorough review of the financial and physical progress across various works under RDD. The DC underlined the need for a proper assessment of material procurement to avoid delays. He also urged Block Development Officers (BDOs) to accelerate the execution of works and emphasized the importance of Aadhaar card seeding in resolving PMAY scheme cases. The meeting was attended by several key officials, including ADDC Pran Singh, ACD Manoj Kumar, ACP Doda, District Program Officer for the Poshan project, S. Parmjeet Singh, BDOs from various blocks, VLWs, GRSs, technical assistants, and representatives from relevant departments.
