RAJOURI: The week-long cricket tournament, jointly organised by the District SVEEP Cell Rajouri and the Sports Department of PG College Rajouri, concluded today at Govt PG College Rajouri.
The event showcased the sporting prowess of nine teams, culminating in an electrifying final match between Staff 11 and Sem 4th Team. Batting first, Staff 11 demonstrated remarkable skill and determination by securing 124 runs in their allotted 15 overs. Despite a valiant effort from Semester 4th Team, they could only muster 110 runs, ultimately resulting in Staff 11 claiming victory with a 14-run lead.
The event was honoured by the esteemed presence of District Development Commissioner Om Parkash Bhagat; ADC Rajouri Rajiv Khajuria and Principal of the College Dr. Shamim Ahmed Azad, who presided over the function graced the occasion as the guest of honour. The seamless execution of the tournament was ensured under the diligent supervision of Mukesh Kumar, Physical Director, and Tanwir Choudhary, Assistant Physical Director, guided by DNO SVEEP Prof. Iqbal Raina.
During the event, District Development Commissioner Rajouri reiterated the significance of active participation by young voters in the electoral process. SVEEP pamphlets, carrying crucial awareness messages, were released by the dignitaries and distributed among NCC Cadets, NSS Volunteers and the audience.
As a token of appreciation, souvenirs were presented to the dignitaries by the members of the District SVEEP Cell Rajouri. Additionally, in recognition of their outstanding achievements, winner and runner-up trophies were awarded to the respective teams. Gold medals were bestowed upon the players of the winning team, while silver medals were conferred upon the players of the runner-up team, acknowledging their commendable efforts and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
