Upskilling/ Training program for Cooks cum Helpers held at Baramulla

BARAMULLA: In a bid to enhance the skills and capabilities of Cooks cum Helpers in the education department, the Department of School Education Baramulla in collaboration with SIDBI and STEP India today organized a first of its kind training program at Government Higher Secondary School Baramulla.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, was the chief guest on the occasion. Chief Education Officer Baramulla, Balbir Singh Raina and other officials from the education department were present in the programme.

The training program, attended by Cooks cum Helpers from various schools under the jurisdiction of the Department of School Education Baramulla, covered a range of topics including proper cooking techniques, hand washing methods, sanitation practices, and food safety measures.

Participants were equipped with practical knowledge and tools to implement better hygienic practices and improved cooking techniques in their daily mid-day meals preparation routines for the school children at their respective schools.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC commended the School Education Department Baramulla for organizing an enlightening training program tailored for the Cooks and Helpers, recognizing its potential to significantly improve the adoption of superior hygiene practices.

Minga Sherpa further emphasized the paramount significance of nutrition in the holistic growth and development of children, stressing the imperative need to prioritize proper hygiene and cooking practices as essential pillars in safeguarding their overall well-being and future prospects.

Later, the DC distributed cooking kits among the trainees, aiming to equip them with the necessary tools to fulfill their duties in a more efficient and proficient manner.
