Schools reopen after 3-month Winter break in Kupwara; students excited to return to classrooms

ADC Handwara, other Officers inspect various schools; welcome students

KUPWARA: Schools in Kupwara district reopened today and sprung back to life after remaining closed for three months due to winter vacations.

A bright sunny day on Monday made a perfect ambience for the students to return to classrooms, as they looked enthusiastic and excited. Schools presented a festive look. The jubilant students dressed in uniforms were seen heading to respective schools in the morning, meeting and interacting with their fellow students and the teachers.

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, ADC Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather visited various Schools of Handwara to welcome the students and inspect the smooth re-opening of schools and resumption of physical class work.

Accompanied by Dy.CEO Kupwara and ZEO Handwara, ADC visited various schools including, Government Boys Middle Schools Handwara and Government Girls Middle School Handwara.

He welcomed the students by presenting sweets and interacted with the students and staff. He congratulated students, parents and teachers and also inspected class room facilities.

While interacting with the students at Government Girls Middle School Handwara, he said, “By improving quality education under the Aspirational District Programme, the District Administration has added various infrastructure facilities in the schools”.

He said Government schools have become model schools now. There is vast improvement in education standards in Kupwara district and the District Administration will leave no stone unturned to improve the education infrastructure and facilities like playfields for the schools.

Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Abdul Majeed Dar visited BHSS Unisoo, BMS Unisoo and Primary School Pohrupeth and UPS Gund Kuhroo.

Meanwhile in view of the inclement weather conditions, and avalanche warnings in snowbound areas by the authorities, the District Administration Kupwara has ordered extension of winter vacations for school-going children till March 5, in avalanche prone areas of Keran, Budnambal, Jumagund, Kumkadi, Machil and upper reaches of Karnah Sub-division for the safety of students and teachers.
