DC distributes UDID cards & certificates among beneficiaries

BUDGAM: In a collaborative effort, the District Administration Budgam, Social Welfare Department, and Health Department today organized a daylong camp for specially-abled citizens at Community Hall in Budgam.

The camp aimed to streamline access to essential services and empower individuals with special abilities.

 Deputy Commissioner (DC),  Budgam, Akshay Labroo  who was the chief guest on the occasion, distributed UDID (Unique Disability ID) cards and certificates among the 40 number of eligible beneficiaries.

Speaking at the event, DC highlighted that the camp was organized under the guidance of the Hon’ble LG Administration.

He emphasized the camp’s objective, to provide a one-stop service for specially-abled individuals where eligible beneficiaries could receive applications, register, and undergo eligibility assessments for various schemes under one roof, enhancing their convenience.

The DC said that as many as 30 new applications were received and after on spot assessment by the medical board 20 beneficiaries have been approved for disability certificates, and all services have been provided to them under one roof without visiting offices to receive such benefits.

He further said that the district administration also has conducted an audit of all government offices at Budgam headquarter to check availability of accessibility for specially-abled citizens to these offices.

He said that the efforts are afoot to create ramps and other easy accessibility for specially-abled persons in all government offices.

The DC added that the  District Administration remains dedicated to organizing similar events in the future, ensuring the well-being and empowerment of Budgam’s specially-abled community.

District Social Welfare Officer, Obaidul Khazir underscored the significance of providing UDID cards and certificates at the camp. He said these documents would empower specially-abled citizens to access various government benefits and services more easily.

CPO, Budgam CMO Budgam and other concerned officers and officials were also present on the occasion.
