4 Job fairs held in past few months with hundreds of local youth shortlisted for next round of interview: DC Budgam

BUDGAM: The District Employment and Counseling Centre (DE&CC), Budgam in collaboration with District Administration Budgam today organized a daylong Job Fair at Town Hall, Beerwah.

The event was inaugurated by Chairman District Development Council (DDC), Nazir Ahmad Khan along with the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Budgam, Akshay Labroo.

The Job Fair witnessed a significant turnout with 763 participants and 17 companies offering over 1000 vacancies.

 302 candidates were shortlisted for the second round. The event also focused on promoting self-employment schemes and skill development, with 527 offline registrations and 207 candidates registering for skill development courses.

 Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that this is fourth in row such a job fair organised under the directions of Hon’ ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K in the past few months, facilitating students and youth of the district seeking employment to avail job opportunities.

The DC said that hundreds of local youth have been shortlisted by various private companies for the next round of interviews in four job fairs held in the district.

He highlighted the government’s commitment to employment generation and encouraged more such events to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers.

The DC while addressing the participating aspirants appealed to them to actively participate in such job fairs and take maximum benefits out of these placement drives.

He impressed upon, enhancing skill and experiences to compete and avail better employment prospectus.

The DC also urged unemployed youth to take benefits of government incentive schemes and explore vast opportunities under various entrepreneurship programmes.

He said that there are vast opportunities for aspiring candidates under different ambitious schemes including Tejaswini, Mumkin, PMEGP and HADP.

Assuring full support and handholding, the DC urged youth to register under employment schemes and set up their enterprises in hospitality, handicraft, tourism, or anywhere in the service sector to explore vast livelihood opportunities for them.

He said such events shall be conducted in other parts of the district in future also. He said besides job fairs, the District Administration Budgam will train unemployed youth under the District Skill Development Plan to bridge the gap between level of skills of youth and requirement of the job providing companies.

Various resource persons from both public and private sectors also spoke on the occasion and gave awareness regarding various opportunities of employment.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DDC Budgam, appreciated the District Administration for organising such events to address unemployment issues in the district.

He said that such events create a sense of encouragement and provide these youths a chance to explore job oriented opportunities at their doorsteps.

Among others, Deputy Director DE&CC, Tehsildar Beerwah, EO Beerwah, TSO, and other concerned officers and officials were present on the occasion.
