Secretary School Education reviews department’s functioning in Kashmir division

Exhorts officers to ensure requisite arrangements for reopening of schools, upcoming exams

SRINAGAR: Secretary School Education, Dr. Piyush Singla, today convened a review meeting regarding functioning of the department with emphasis on ensuring requisite arrangements in place for re-opening of schools and upcoming examinations in Kashmir division.

Director School Education Kashmir, Dr.Tassaduq Hussain Mir briefed the meeting about the arrangements being made by the department for the upcoming examinations, re-opening of schools and present scenario of functioning of the department.

The Secretary issued strict instructions to the concerned officials to ensure that all arrangements for reopening of schools are made efficiently besides preparations for upcoming examinations are done in time. He impressed upon all the Chief Education Officers to complete rationalization of teaching staff to ensure equitable pupil teacher ratio at par with NEP 2020 besides strengthening of Cluster System. He also emphasized on execution of pending works for completion at the earliest.

He directed the Chief Education Officers to expedite the process of holding DPC meetings at various levels and provide latest vacancy position of all cadres at the earliest. He asked the officers to pay attention on resolving HR related issues and ensure that the staff do not have to face stagnation.

Dr. Piyush Singla also instructed the officers to ask the school administrators under their respective jurisdiction to ensure that any of the basic facilities, if rendered non-functional during winters, be repaired and restored before reopening of the schools. He directed the CEOs, Nodal Officers for SVEEP, to ensure availability of minimum assured facilities in all schools keeping in view the upcoming parliamentary elections. He asked the teaching farternity to focus on student centered learning, enhancing teaching skills through training programmes, use of latest technology, fostering effective parent-teacher partnership, creating a supportive learning environment, encouraging continuous assessment and feedback, emphasizing mental health and providing necessary resources to further streamline the education system.

The Secretary emphasized upon all stakeholders to work in a coordinated manner to further improve education standards in the district for larger interest of the society.

Later, Dr Piyush Singla visited Pulwama and inaugurated AAGAZ Lab in Government High School Pahoo.

He also visited Mehjoor Memorial Higher Secondary School Pulwama and distributed regularization orders in favour of Contingent Paid Workers there.

Dr Piyush Singla also interacted with the staff and the students of the institutions and discussed about the academic environment of the schools.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary SED, Deputy Secretary SED, Personnel Officer DSEK, Chief Accounts Officer, DSEK and all Chief Education Officers of Kashmir division besides other senior officers of the department.
