Issues on-spot directions for quality redress of public grievances

REASI: District Development Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan today chaired the weekly Block Diwas meeting to address the grievances of the local public here at Dharmari. The event was part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to connect with the people at the grassroots level and to ensure the speedy redressal of their issues.

The residents of Dharmari, during the Block Diwas event, brought to light several pressing issues affecting their locality. They demanded construction of roads in unconnected areas ,completion of PMGSY roads, meeting shortage of staff in health and education departments, construction of the Hydro Power Project over the Hans River, renovation of the Dak Bungalow, installation of electric poles where needed, up-gradation of the Primary Health Centre (PHC), and a fresh survey for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Various stalls were set up by different departments to provide on-spot services to the public. These stalls included those of the Revenue, Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, Social Welfare department.

DDC Mahajan instructed the Chief Horticulture Officer to organize an awareness camp in Kanthi, Thillu and adjoining areas to educate the residents about the departmental schemes and initiatives so that they can avail themselves of the benefits.

During the Block Diwas, General Manager District Industries Centre Reasi,  Mohammad Anwar Banday briefed residents about the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme. He encouraged them to register themselves for the scheme to avail  its benefits.

The DDC interacted with the residents of Dharmari and surrounding areas, listening to their grievances patiently. He assured them of prompt action on the issues raised and directed the concerned departments to take necessary steps to resolve the same at the earliest.

During the interaction with the public, the residents of Dharmari and surrounding areas expressed their desire for a railway station in the Khori to improve connectivity and facilitate easier transportation of goods and people.

Responding to their demands, DDC Mahajan assured the residents that the administration has already taken up the issue with the Chairperson Railway Board during his recent visit who assured to assess the feasibility of constructing a railway station at Khori.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC highlighted the role of road connectivity in the overall development of the area. He emphasized that the construction of roads has not only provide improved connectivity but also led to the overall development of the region. He informed the gathering about the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) , under which every left-out household will be provided with electricity connections. Additionally, the scheme includes the repair of electric poles and wires to ensure a reliable electricity supply to the residents.

The DDC also directed the Block Development Officer (BDO) to identify suitable areas for the installation of solar power stations.

Regarding the shortage of staff in schools, DDC Mahajan assured that the vacancies would be filled soon to ensure smooth functioning. He also announced plans for the upgrade of all school buildings in the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25.

Furthermore, he directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to organize health checkup camps in Dharmari and adjoining areas, to ensure the health and well-being of the residents and to address any health issues in a timely manner.

He encouraged residents to take optimal benefits of the various online services provided by the Central and Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory (UT) governments. He highlighted the convenience and efficiency of these services, especially in the current digital era.

DDC distributed five appointment orders to Sanginis recently engaged in the Poshan project. He congratulated the appointees and encouraged them to work diligently towards the project’s objectives.

Later, DDC Mahajan conducted a thorough inspection of the newly constructed Government Degree College Dharmari. During the inspection, he ensured that all pending works will be swiftly completed, directed  the authorities to expedite work and best efforts.
