No elections if Narendra Modi wins again: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge

NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday said if Narendra Modi returned as Prime Minister again, there would be no elections.

Speaking at a Congress meeting in Bhubaneshwar, Kharge said, “This is the last election. The last chance to save democracy. If Narendra Modi comes again, there will be no election, there will only be dictatorship.”

Kharge also mocked the BJP-BJD equation (the ruling BJD in Odisha has often sided with the government on key national legislations) as a “love marriage which had not given Odisha anything.”

However, Kharge singled out PM Modi for the attack saying “whether you agree or not, this is the fact (that 2024 is the last time voting will happen if PM wins).”

“You are watching how leaders are leaving. A leader of the INDIA bloc left. Everyone is being intimidated into leaving the alliance. Someone is leaving the party out of fear, someone is quitting the alliance. If leaders exhibit such fearfulness, how will democracy survive?” Kharge asked.
