KISHTWAR: In a vibrant prelude to Republic Day 2024, the District Administration Kishtwar, led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, orchestrated a spirited badminton tournament in collaboration with the District Youth Services and Sports Department.

The culmination of the exhilarating tournament took place today at the Badminton court under the adept technical guidance of DYSSO Kharati Lal Sharma.

The event, conducted over two days, witnessed enthusiastic participation from diverse segments of society. Men’s singles witnessed Satish Rajput emerging as the winner, while Santosh Kumar of 52nd Battalion CRPF claimed the second spot.

In the women’s category, Divyanshi and Bhoomika emerged Winner and Ist runner up respectively. Both students of KV Kishtwar and daughters of CRPF 52nd Battalion Personnel, Mohinder Kumar, the duo exhibited exceptional talent and sportsmanship.

The closing ceremony was graced by Deputy Commissioner as the chief guest, and CO 52nd Battalion CRPF Parma Shivan as the guest of honour. DYSSO Kharati Lal was the special guest.

Dr. Devansh Yadav extended heartfelt congratulations to all participants and winners. He acknowledged the efforts of the DYSSO staff for orchestrating a successful tournament, emphasizing the need for the development of badminton courts in identified areas in the district.

 Dr. Yadav highlighted that such sports infrastructure development is a priority, aiming to redirect the youth from potential social pitfalls like drug menace. He emphasized that nurturing sports not only fosters physical well-being but also instills values of integrity and development as enshrined in the Constitution of India.

During the event, the Social Reforms & Charitable Organisation Kishtwar (SRCO) and Dabur India Ltd., under the diligent supervision of President SRCO, Sanjeev Kumar Parihar, executed the Health and Nutrition Support Program. As part of this initiative, nutritional packets were distributed among the tournament participants, contributing to their overall well-being.

The chief guest, Dr. Devansh Yadav felicitated the winners with certificates, trophies and awards commending their dedication to sportsmanship and excellence.

The role of Suresh Chander Parihar I/C ZPEO Nagseni, Javaid Sheikh (Incharge activity) and Satish Kumar (PET) played a pivotal role throughout the tournament.

The success of the badminton tournament not only showcased sporting prowess but also underscored the commitment of the district administration towards holistic youth development and community engagement.
