R-Day preparations discussed in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: To ensure seamless celebration of the upcoming Republic Day -2024 at the District Headquarters Udhampur, Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai today chaired a meeting with district officers from various departments in the Conference Hall in the DC Office Complex.

 Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, Additional District Development Commissioner Ghan Sham Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Joginder Singh Jasrotia, Assistant Commissioner Development Dr Ranjeet Singh Kotwal, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Rafiq Ahmed Jaral, and other district heads attended the meeting.

The discussions covered critical aspects such as seating arrangements, barricading, security measures, traffic regulation, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, first aid, PAS, and deployment of fire-tenders.

It was decided in the meeting that the main function would take place at the premises of Government Degree College for Boys, Udhampur. The event will commence with the Shehnai Vadan program in the morning, organized by the Information department. Contingents from Police, CRPF, Volunteer Home Guards, NCC, and various colleges and schools will partake in the march past.

DC instructed the Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD, and R&B to ensure seating, barricading, and drinking water arrangements, along with uninterrupted power supply at the function site. The Chief Executive Officer of Municipality was tasked with maintaining cleanliness in the town and at the venue. For first aid, the Chief Medical Officer was directed to deploy an ambulance along with a team of doctors and necessary medicine until the end of the function. District and Traffic Police will ensure security and traffic management in the town.

Several committees, including the Rehearsal, Reception Committee, Illumination Committee, and Contingent Selection Committee, were formed to ensure the successful celebration of the national function.

 DC urged the officers to make all necessary arrangements well in time for the smooth celebration of the National event. Emphasizing zeal and enthusiasm, she called for close coordination among departments to make the Republic Day celebration a grand success. All departments were directed to have their officers and employees present at the venue on the day of the function.

The CEO and DYSSO were instructed to ensure the participation of students from far-flung areas in the National event.
