SHGs orientated on Milk Analysis and Food Consultation

SHOPIAN: An awareness programme was conducted today at (DMMU) NRLM Office, Shopian by NRLM and Department of Animal Husbandry.    

On the occasion, Experts from Department of Animal Husbandry Shopian carried session wise participatory orientation of identified Farm Community Resource Persons from SHG on Milk Analysis and Fodder consultation. 

The orientation was carried in the backdrop of MOU signed between DAHD and MoRD for leveraging SHG platform for rural economic growth through convergence between Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) and National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM).

District Programme Managers, Uzma Mehraj and Irfan Basheer highlighted the role of this convergence in context to have an alternative opportunities to women SHG members by which they can increase their economic conditions by adopting best practices of farm livelihoods and particularly dairy based enterprises.

Furthermore, during the introductory sessions, the accredited Agent for Health and Extension of Livestock Production programme commonly known as A-HELP was discussed within the participants and its importance in economic growth of rural women populace was taken on board.

Dr Manzoor and Dr Waseem from the department of Animal Husbandry Shopian highlighted the importance of Milk Analysis and also discussed within the participants the methods and processes for appropriate recording of milk and selection of breeds for dairy farming.

They emphasized on proper fodder consultation practices which could transform the basic structuring of livestock business for better production and cost reduction per liter of milk which will directly lead to better income generation of households.

At the concluding session, more 25 Kits were distributed on the spot among the identified farm CRPs.
