Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra commences at Shopian

DC presides over the inaugural function

SHOPIAN: The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) commenced today in 6 Panchayats of the district with an inaugural function presided over by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb.

The Panchayats where Yatra started include Chotipora, Heerpora, Pahnoo, Trenz, G.Hadoo and GP Arsh of the Shopian block.

The Yatra has been started with an aim to connect with the people and aware them about the multitude of government schemes, the process to avail benefits, besides reaching out to the unreached population and by interacting with beneficiaries.

Addressing the gathering, the DC informed that the Yatra provides a platform for the departments to reach out to the people and disseminate vital information. He also held interactive sessions with residents to get feedback on the government interventions and schemes.

The DC said that the collaborative spirit exhibited by residents and local authorities reflects a collective determination to build a more vibrant and empowered community.

The locals and students were upbeat and ensured overwhelming participation and engagement with the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra on Day One. They showcased colourful cultural performances to register their determined involvement.

Departments installed Stalls showcasing the department schemes. Medical camps were held on the occasion along with distribution functions of government handouts.

Flagship schemes including PM KISAN, Vishwakarma, Suraksha Bima Yojna, Jeevan Jyoti, Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, JJM, Poshan Abhiyaan and scores of other schemes including welfare, employment and income generation based schemes were either showcased or highlighted during the initial day of the yatra.

Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, Officers from line departments, PRIs,  Social Activists, prominent citizens, beneficiaries and youth participated in Viksit Bharat Yatra programmes.
