BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad Wednesday conducted a comprehensive tour of several panchayats in connection with the commencement of fifth phase of Back to Village programme and took stock of ongoing activities in village panchayats.
The DC was accompanied by ADDC Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, besides various officers and officials of the line departments.
Dr. Owais visited several panchayats, including the panchayat halqas of Check Arsla (CA) Khan, Gundpora, and Garoora.
He first visited panchayats of CA Khan, where he reviewed the arrangements for the B2V-5 program. He interacted with the visiting officers and public and visited development work sites along with officers. The DC also interacted with the students here. On the occasion, the DC was accompanied by DDC Arin Ghulam Mohiuddin besides BDC Arin, PRIs, and BDO concerned.
The DC later visited panchayats of Gundpora and Garoora, where he interacted with the visiting officers, PRIs, and the general public. On the occasion, the DC inspected middle school Garoora and took stock of the facilities available to the children.
Regarding the ongoing Back to Village (B2V-5) program, DC said that all stakeholders can voice their opinion regarding development activities and implementation of government schemes.
He said that the visiting officers have been deployed at 50 Panchayats under the first phase of B2V5 to ensure that they can voice the genuine issues being raised by people in a transparent manner so that effective solutions can be undertaken as well as to review the implementation of welfare measures besides different government schemes on the ground and identify gap areas.
The DC appealed to people to come forward and participate enthusiastically in the program. Speaking about the involvement of youth, the DC said that youth have an important say in the course of development. He said that youth clubs must highlight youth centric issues in the ongoing B2V5 program.
Interacting with the sarpanches and panches, DC said that PRIs must lead from the front to keep their panchayats garbage free and clean and should conduct regular gram sabhas for proper projection of their genuine demands.
