DODA: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan today convened a meeting with all the stakeholders to introduce the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana (PM Vishwakarma Scheme) in the district.
At the outset, GM Industries Doda, Idrees Lone highlighted the strategic aspects of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme. He informed that the scheme shall empower artisans, commonly known as Vishwakarmas by financial, technical, and logistic support, who form a vital part of the informal or unorganized sector of the economy.
During the meeting, the DC led discussions on various aspects of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme and emphasised for exhaustive awareness through print, electronic and social media. The key areas discussed include all the 18 trades covered under the scheme.
The DC stressed upon the significance of conducting extensive drive of identification and registration of eligible beneficiaries on the designated portal.
He also stressed about taking on board Sarpanches, who play a pivotal role in the verification of beneficiaries.
Banks have been asked to reach out to all the eligible beneficiary artisans, in collaboration with all the stakeholder government departments, whose accounts are in their bank branches.
He exhorted to use Block Diwas as special campaign days for PM Vishwakarma Yojana and the departments of Industries, Employment, and Technical education shall take lead in spreading awareness during Block Diwas and other such public out reach progammes.
The DC has asked the stakeholders to focus on women artisens to empower them and transform their lives while promoting local traditional craftsmanship.
