Srinagar Food Safety organises Training programme under Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC)

Batch of 50 FBOs of Srinagar District trained in Food Safety Standards Act

SRINAGAR: With a view to make all Food Business Operators(FBOs) of Srinagar District well versed about Food Safety Standards Act, a  one-day training programme under Food Safety Training and Certification(FoSTaC) was organised here today by the Srinagar Food Safety Department. 

The Training programme was organized on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad in Boulevard, Dalgate and other adjoining areas with an objective to make Food Business Operators of Srinagar District well versed with Food Safety and Standards Act and ensure that no unhygienic food is cooked and served to consumers.

The Training programme was held under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Yameen ul Nabi in which more than 50 Food Business Operators(FBOs) especially dealing with Hotel Industry and Dhabas participated in the training program with the concept to avoid any mishandling of food items while manufacturing. The participants were given training on how to maintain the highest standards of Hygiene in the manufacturing plants.

Meanwhile, a special drive was carried out by the Team Food Safety Srinagar along with Intelligence cum legal cell of Drug and Food Control Organization in Jawhar Nagar, Rajbagh and adjacent areas during which a Mobile Food Testing Van was put in place to check quality food being sold in the City markets and about 60 samples were analysed on spot. 

The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad has asked the Department of Food Safety to continue such training programs on maintaining good hygienic practices, good manufacturing practices and good catering practices in coming days especially for those Food Business Operators associated with manufacturing of various categories of Food items particularly which are sensitive to time and temperature (High Risk Food).
