DC Doda discusses winter preparedness in district

DODA: To address the problems faced during the winter season by public, especially in far-flung, snow bound areas and other natural factors hamper the normal life, the Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Mahajan convened a meeting of all the stakeholders to discuss preparedness of upcoming winter season.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned stakeholders to ensure same vibrancy during the winter, by managing all the roads to remain open, ensuring water and power supply, snow clearance, availability of food grains, LPG and other essential commodities across the district.

The DC instructed concerned officers to keep their men and machinery ready to deal with any kind of situation and ensure smooth service delivery across all areas of the district.

PDD was asked to issue the curtailment schedule and ensure uninterrupted power supply in the district. The engineers were instructed to keep sufficient buffer stock of Transformers, poles, and other equipments to restore power supply within 24 hours in any part of the district. DC urged to ensure that the banned heating gadgets are not used and sold in the district. SE PWD was  asked to maintain all the roads and ensure they remain open during the winter. Jal Shakti department was directed to maintain water supply to every household in the district.

Regarding healthcare facilities, the health officials were asked to ensure sufficient stock of medicines in all health institutions across the district, besides availability of doctors and paramedics in the remotest corner of the district.

DC stressed on coordination among all stakeholders in making a viable snow clearance plan and restoration of essential services in the district. He asked for keeping machinery available and stationed at the strategic locations to clear and make functional all the roads during snowfall and slides.

DC also asked for advance avalanche warning for hilly areas to avoid damage to property and loss of lives.

He urged the concerned departments to review their earlier performance, identify the shortcomings so that a comprehensive plan is made and winter preparedness is full and the district remains vibrant.
