DDC Bandipora takes review of ongoing projects under Jal Jeevan Mission

BANDIPORA: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad, Tuesday convened a meeting to assess the progress and implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district.

The meeting was informed that out of 224 works under different schemes, 223 works stand tendered, and letter of intent and allotment in respect of JJM stands issued for these works. It was further informed that a total of 208 works have been allotted out of which 27 have already been completed.

During the meeting, the DDC said that Jal Jeevan Mission is playing a significant role in enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Bandipora district, especially the people living in the higher reaches of the district.

He said that the mission of the district administration is to make sure that no household in Bandipora faces the challenge of water scarcity.

While reviewing the progress of JJM, the DDC was informed that several villages in the district have already achieved the goal of ‘Har Ghar Jal’. The concerned officials on the occasion presented an overview of the progress made so far in implementing the mission. This included the status of tap water connections, infrastructure development, and financial disbursements.

The DDC was informed about the challenges encountered during the implementation of the mission. Solutions to overcome them were also discussed threadbare on the occasion.

During the meeting, specific timelines and targets were set to expedite the achievement of universal water coverage in the district.

The DDC urged everyone to work collaboratively and efficiently to make Bandipora a model district in terms of water accessibility and quality.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Bandipora, Ali Afsar Khan; Nodal Officer Coordination, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak; Superintending Engineer Hydraulic Division Bandipora/Sopore, JD Planning, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Department Bandipora besides other concerned Officers.
