RAMBAN: District Election Department, Ramban today conducted a day-long training programme for Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) in view of upcoming Municipal Elections at Conference hall, Maitra .
District Election Officer, Ramban Mussarat Islam presided over the training session which was conducted by the State Level Master Trainer (SLMT).
Deputy District Election Officer, Lal Chand, SLMT General Manager, DIC, Ravinder Anand, DLMT Firdous Ahmad and other officials of Election department imparted training to the participants.
The training was attended by ROs, AROs, and other concerned election officials.
The ROs and AROs were informed about their role and responsibilities, election management, nomination process, scrutiny of nomination papers, withdrawal of candidature, EVM management, conduct of polls, counting, declaration of results and provisions of the model code of conduct imposed after notification of Elections.
A brief presentation of ‘ROs Handbook for Municipal Elections 2023’, ‘Jammu and Kashmir Municipal Elections Act 2000’, and ‘Jammu and Kashmir Municipal (Elections) Rules 2003’ was given by the SLMTs.
A question answer session was also held to clear the doubts of the participants about the procedures and rules for the conduct of free, fair, and transparent Elections in the district.
Emphasizing on the importance of Municipal Elections, the DEO stressed that Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers need to prepare themselves fully for the conduct of free, fair and transparent Municipal elections.
