Horticulture Deptt distributes fruit plants among 180 households in Block Samwan

JAMMU: In a remarkable initiative aimed to foster sustainable development and modernize agricultural practices, the Horticulture Department Jammu distributed fruit plants among 180 households across the CD block Samwan.

The fruit plants were provided as part of the Aspirational Block Development Programme, in presence of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)  Khour Anil Kumar Thakur as the chief guest.

The fruit plants distribution event witnessed a large gathering of farmers from panchayats– Samwan, Palanwalla Upper, Bardoh, and Panch Toot, reflecting the commitment of the Horticulture Department towards uplift of the communities through agricultural advancement.

The SDM Khour shared valuable insights into the manifold benefits of horticulture cultivation. Laying emphasis on sustainable farming practices, he said horticulture has the required potential to boost the local economy and improve overall quality of life for residents. The audience was enlightened about the environmental advantages, nutritional value, and economic prospects that horticulture brings to the table.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Horticulture officer Jammu Ashwani Sharma emphasized that the horticulture cultivation provided a remarkable opportunity for sustainable growth, both at the individual and community levels. “By harnessing the horticulture potential, we can not only improve our environment but also create avenues for economic prosperity”, he added.

District level Subject Matter Specialist, Sandeep Gupta also emphasized that the success of the event underscores the significance of collaborative efforts of government bodies, local authorities, and the community at large. He reiterated the Horticulture Department’s commitment to foster agricultural excellence and sought public support to achieve aspirational development goals.

Present on the occasion were chairperson BDC Parveen Kumar and PRI members of panchayats Samwan, Bardoh, Panch Toot and Palanwalla upper respectively. The vote of thanks was delivered by HDO Khour.
