DC Ramban distributes aids and appliances among children with special needs

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam today inaugurated a distribution camp to provide appropriate aids and appliances to Children with Special Needs (CWSN) organised by the Directorate of SAMAGRA SHIKSHA, J&K, in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) at Government High School Ramsoo.

CEO Ramban Dev Anand, ZEO Banihal, Jamsheed Ahmed, ZEO Kharri, Dev Raj, Headmaster HS Ramsoo, Kamlesh Kumar and others were present on the occasion.  Beneficiaries along with their parents attended the camp where aids and appliances were distributed.

The doctors from Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) Kusam Devi and Gulshan Kumar gave demonstrations regarding use of appliances.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the School Education Department and ALIMCO. He emphasised that such camps tremendously help students to cope up in their daily life and should go a long way to help them to achieve life goals. He also impressed that such camps should be organised more often in all blocks and zones.

The DC said that the camp is aimed at building a vision to have an inclusive society in which equal opportunities are provided for the growth and development of all children. DC also congratulated CEO Ramban for the initiative and assured that the district administration would extend every possible help to children with special needs.

The DC said that after medical checkup more than 850 children fall under the category of children with special needs in district Ramban. A total 63 needed children of 3 Zones were provided with aids and appliances including Wheelchairs, CP Chairs, Rotators, Smart Cane, Hearing aids, Crutches and MSID kits at GHS Ramsoo.

During the camp, the CEO also generated awareness among the public regarding various welfare schemes being implemented by the department.

Later, the DC along with the CEO visited Kindergarten and inspected the facilities available for kids besides interacting with the students. He also reviewed the functioning of Government High School Ramsoo.
