Sheetal Nanda inaugurates three day Assistive Devices distribution camp at Jammu

JAMMU: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department (SWD), Sheetal Nanda today inaugurated three day Assistive Devices distribution camp for Persons with Disabilities(PWDs) at residential school for blind, Roop Nagar here.

The camp was organized by Department of Social Welfare Jammu in collaboration with Artificial limbs corporation of India(ALIMCO).

During the camp, the Commissioner Secretary distributed prosthetic aids/assistive devices like Tricycles, wheel chairs, hearing aids, smart phones, smart canes among identified differently abled persons. The beneficiaries were selected on the basis of assessment camp held in month of May by Social welfare department in collaboration with ALIMCO. Artificial limbs were also provided to the identified beneficiaries during the camp.

On the occasion, Sheetal Nanda also interacted with the divyaanjan and gave them a peaceful hearing. She also inspected residential school for blinds being run by social welfare department and directed for immediate remodelling of the home.

Director General, Social welfare Department, Vivek Sharma; MD Mission Vatsalaya, Harvinder Kour; senior officers of SWD, PRI representatives, members of JMC and large number of locals were also present on the occasion.
