DC Poonch discusses activity plan for Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary, chaired a meeting to discuss the activity plan for the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav themed-“Meri Matti Mera Desh”.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik; General Manager DIC, Dr.Zakir Hussain; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Zaheer Ahmed Kaifi; Assistant Commissioner Development, Abid Hussain Shah; Tehsildar Hqr, Jhangir Hussain; Principal SKC GDC Poonch, Dr.Jasbir Singh; Principal GDC Mendhar Dr.Mohd.Azam; Chief Education Officer, Bishamber Das; CEO Municipality, Mohd.Hanief; Chief Horticulture Officer Poonch, Sanjeev Kumar; District Informatics Officer, Narinder Singh; BDO NSSB, Ayaz Bahtt; DPO Poonch,  Chanderkant; AD Food Ranjeet, besides ARTO Poonch, representative Govt Degree College Surankote, besides BDOs and tehsildars attended the meeting through virtual Mode.

During the meeting, the attendees discussed the activities for celebrating India’s 75th Independence Day.

In consonance with the theme “Meri Mati Mera Desh” , a “Mitti Yatra” will be taken out out from each Panchayat to the national capital. The yatra will symbolize the connection between the land and its people and will mark the 75th year of India’s independence.

In addition, 75 indigenous saplings will be planted at each panchayat to promote environmental conservation.

The attendees also discussed the need for outreach sessions with the heads of each panchayat and self-help groups to leverage mitti diyas and kalash. All government buildings and institutions will take the Panch Pran pledge with participation of local leaders. A memorial pledge will be constructed in and around Amrit Sarovar, where water bodies are available, to honor the country’s freedom fighters.

The DC emphasized the need to celebrate the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in a grand manner while ensuring the safety of all participants.  

This year, the focus of the celebrations will be on “Veero Ko Naman” and “Veero Ka Vandan”. Local veers (heroes) will be felicitated to acknowledge their contribution towards the country. The families of the freedom fighters will also be felicitated as a mark of respect and gratitude towards their sacrifices.
