RAMBAN: A series of informative sessions were held on the day 2 of the ongoing 3-day Capacity Building Programme on Early Detection of Drug Abuse and Post Detection Management being organized by the department of Social Welfare here in the Conference Hall, Maitra.
Participating in an interaction session, Deputy Commissioner Mussarat Islam emphasized the importance of generating awareness and spreading knowledge on these topics to prevent drug abuse and promote sustainable livelihood.
The DC impressed upon the participants, especially youth, to become dedicated volunteers of the awareness campaign to prevent drug abuse and promote sustainable livelihood. He appreciated efforts of collaborating departments and said training experience will help the participants to work more effectively towards curbing this menace in the district.
Informing that enforcement agencies are on job to tighten noose around the drug peddlers, the DC said District Administration Ramban in coordination with Police and other stakeholder departments is committed to create a drug-free environment in the district.
During the Capacity Building Programme, the students from Government Degree College, Ramban, Government Higher Secondary school Ramban, Anganwari workers and other volunteers were trained on how to tackle the menace of drug abuse, early detection of drug addiction, counseling of youth and de-addiction.
BMO Ukhral, Dr. Mohd Iqbal, expert in mental health, delivered an effective lecture on the topic with the help of PowerPoint Presentation besides interacting with the participants. The programme was held under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer, Rahul Gupta in association with the Education, Health and other departments.
