RAJOURI: In a significant move towards strengthening the cooperative movement through the implementation of the world’s largest grain storage plan, the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, today chaired a meeting with the concerned officers.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss the implementation of the plan for the ambitious project that aims to revolutionize the agriculture sector and revive the cooperative movement to empower farmers and promote inclusive growth.
He highlighted that the project would not only provide better storage facilities for grains but would also help in reducing post-harvest losses, enhance farmers’ income and boost agricultural productivity. The project aims to establish a dependable grain storage facility. The facility will be managed by the cooperative societies, with the support of the district administration and other stakeholders.
The project is expected to benefit a number of farmers in the region. It will also play a crucial role in ensuring food security and reducing wastage in the agriculture sector. DC Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, expressed his gratitude towards all the stakeholders for their active participation and contribution towards the project.
He assured that the district administration would extend all possible support to make the project a success. The meeting concluded with a resolve to work towards the speedy implementation of the project and make it a shining example of the power of the cooperative movement in promoting sustainable development.
In addition to the cooperative-led grain storage plan, DC Rajouri directed the department functionaries to put in dedicated efforts to achieve the assigned targets within set deadlines and strengthen the cooperative movement in the district. He stressed on greater inter-departmental coordination to achieve the desired results.
