SRINAGAR: The NSS units of S.P College Srinagar in collaboration with Physical Education Department and DSW celebrated International Day for Yoga (IDY) with a series of programmes including Yoga training session, social media awareness about benefits of yoga and Yoga Dance in the cultural event of the college.
The event was chaired by Principal of the college, Dr. Ghulam Jeelani Qureshi, held with an aim to raise global awareness about the numerous health benefits and spiritual significance of practicing yoga.
More than 35 participants attended the morning yoga session in the college Gymnasium. Zarka Fayaz from Yoga Society of Kashmir was the instructor for the session which lasted almost 40 minutes wherein the participants tried as many as 30 Asanas.
With an aim of mass awareness, NSS units updated the social media handles with posts related to popularity and benefits of yoga.
During the cultural program of the college in the auditorium, 12 students performed Yoga dance in front of a packed house audience. The dance was highly appreciated by the audience especially from the members of NAAC Peer team.
