World Blood Donor Day celebrated at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: On ‘World Blood Donor Day’ celebrated every year on 14th June; a Blood Donation Camp was today held at Dak Bungalow Anantnag with the theme “Give Blood, Give Plasma, Share Life, Share often” by District Red Cross Society in collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society, GMC Anantnag and District Administration Anantnag.

The camp was organized to spread awareness and seek attention to the Blood Donation besides educating people on the importance of safe Blood donation for the purpose of transfusion. 

While inaugurating the Camp, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Wani  termed the act of blood donation an act of solidarity and a service to mankind and most important activity.

He appreciated the donors for such an act and exhorted all people to donate blood and asked them to make themselves aware of the benefits of blood donations.

ADDC also stressed on spreading awareness among the public regarding blood donation and debunking myths associated with it besides directing the health team to check all medical formalities of donors before donating. 

Volunteers from across the district thronged the camp and donated blood besides the college students, CISF, CRPF, RR and JKP Personals donated 37 points of blood.

The camp was attended by ACR, Doctors from GMC, officials from civil administration, Red Cross officials and officials of various departments besides the volunteers of various social organizations.
