Renowned Ecologist Prof. Sukumar delivered at IUST

AWANTIPORA: Prof. R. Sukumar, Honorary Professor, Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore delivered a special lecture at Islamic University of Science and Technology today.

The expert deliberated upon Climate Change and Sustainable Future, and called for a collaborative global action to mitigate the impact of Climate Change. Terming it a global crisis that can have catastrophic impact, he called for concerted actions to mitigate its impact. He emphasised that the global community should join hands and make collaborative efforts to address the problems caused due to climate changes.

The program was presided over by Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST, who talked in length about multilateral protocols and agreements that focus on climate change issues. He also spoke about the impact of Climate Change on local resources and people’s livelihoods, particularly glaciers and water resources.
