Weeklong programme under Mission LiFE concludes at KVK Gurez

BANDIPORA: The weeklong programme aimed at connecting the powers of people for the protection of environment and teaching them to utilize it in a better way under mission LiFE (Life Style for Environment) concluded at KVK-Gurez with the celebration of World Environment Day on Monday.

Deliberating upon the weeklong events, Dr. Bilal Ahmed Bhat Head KVK-Gurez said that KVKs all across the country had been assigned different activities from the third week of May till June 05.

He  informed that during the period various awareness, sensitization and illustrative activities including farmer interactions, trainings, debate and painting competitions of students, environment pledge, animal health check up and cleanliness drives to promote LiFE actions in agriculture as well as our day to day life were conducted by KVK-Gurez.

These events covered the farming community, students, teachers, youth, farm women and various Panchayat Raj Institute (PRI) members.

Debate and painting competitions among the students aimed at depicting their innovative thoughts and creativity were also held.

On this year’s theme of the World Environment Day, ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, a mega event was organized at Mountain Agriculture Research and Extension Station MARES of the university at Izmarg.

BDO Gurez, SDO Sheep husbandry, BDC Chairman, Panches and officers/officials of line departments and a large number of farmers were also present.

The participants were also sensitized on various hazards of plastic.

About 400 persons also took LiFE pledge during this weeklong event.

About Mission LiFE, Dr. Parveen Kumar SMS (Ag. Extension) at KVK-Gurez said that our lifestyles and daily activities have a profound and decisive impact on our environment.

He said Mission LiFE is an India led global mass movement that works to nudge individual and collective action to protect and preserve our environment.
