CUK holds cycle race competition

GANDERBAL: Under the theme “Our Planet: Our Environment and Our campus”, Mass Mobilization On Mission LiFE”, Departments of Management Studies and Politics and Governance in collaboration with the Directorate of Student’s Welfare (DSW) organized a cycle-race for the students here Tuesday morning.

Dean School of Business Studies, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, flagged off the race from Green Campus to Tulmulla Campus. As many as 20 students participated in the event. Mubashir Riyaz from the Department of Physics bagged the top slot and Sameer Makhdoomi from the department of IT bagged the second position. Akhilesh from the department of Education won the third spot.

Speaking on the occasion, Dean School of Business Studies, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka, congratulated the winners on achieving the feat and hailed all the students for participating in the competition. He said, “Cycling has huge health benefits and the daily routine improves mobility, coordination, heart health, and reduces weight.”

He said that regular cycling can lessen mental health disorders, including depression, tension, and anxiety and the individuals can learn attentiveness and mindfulness by keeping their eyes on the road.

Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka said, the objective of organizing the event was to promote eco friendly transport system. “Emission of greenhouse gases from the automobiles have wreaked havoc with the environment and the need of the hour is increase the use of cycles for daily commuting,” he added

Dy DSW, Dr. Asif Khan, Asst Professors, Dr. Mir Insha, Dr Khalid Waseem and NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Mohammad Muzammil Shah, other functionaries of the university were also present on the occasion.
