SHOPIAN: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb today conducted an extensive tour of Mughal Road up to Peer Ki Gali stretch wherein he inspected ongoing slide clearance and developmental works.

During the tour, the DC enquired about the feasibility of opening of Mughal Road for regular traffic movement.

Notably, early opening of Mughal Road was high on demand of local people as it eases the movement of vehicles and significantly reduces the travel time compared to Jammu Srinagar National Highway. However, due to a long span of bad weather conditions, intermittent rainfall/ snowfall, sliding along the vital road, the road had remained closed.

The DC directed the Ex. Engineer Mughal Road to speed up the work by deploying more men and machinery so that it can be made through for traffic.

Directions were given to concerned for early clearance of the slides along the roadside, after the improvement of weather conditions.

The DC was accompanied by ADC, Shopian Yar Ali Khan, Ex. Engineer Mughal Road and other concerned officers of departments.
