SRINAGAR: Higher Education Department and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) organized two day training cum awareness and counselling workshop for the Principals of Degree Colleges, nodal officers and other stakeholders under the Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K and Ladakh (PM-USPY) for the academic session 2023-24 at Sri Pratap College.
The inaugural event was chaired by Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, Professor Yasmeen Ashai.
Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges, Professor Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Principal SP College Srinagar, Professor Ghulam Jeelani Qureshi, Principal Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Professor Khurshid Ahmad Khan, Kunal Jeet Singh, Director PMSSS, AICTE, New Delhi, Rakesh Kumar Ganju, Assistant Director PMSSS AICTE, New Delhi, Professor Ajeet Angral, Consultant PMSSS AICTE New Delhi, Principals of Kashmir Division Colleges, Higher Secondary Schools and Nodal Officers of Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) participated in the workshop.
The first issue of monthly students bulletin of SP College “The Pratap Bulletin” was also released during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Yasmeen Ashai exhorted upon all the Principals to upload and notify the deliberations of the workshop on their respective college websites so that the benefits of the PMSSS reach the maximum students. She lauded the efforts of AICTE and the associated nodal officers for smooth conduct of the whole process of award of PMSSS on a yearly basis.
Professor Sheikh Ajaz Bashir also spoke on the occasion and deliberated upon the benefits of PMSSS and stressed upon the participant Principals to put forward dedicated faculty as incharge PMSSS in their respective colleges.
Professor Ghulam Jeelani Qureshi, while addressing the stakeholders, stressed upon the need to attract more and more students towards the scholarship scheme for which all the stakeholders need to put serious efforts.
Professor Ajeet Angral conducted the workshop and talked at length about the beneficiaries of PMSSS in various fields over the last few years. He impressed upon the nodal officers that they must take every necessary care so that the benefits of the policy reach the meritorious and deserving students.
Kunal Jeet Singh, Director PMSSS and Rakesh Kumar Ganju Assistant Director PMSSS AICTE also delivered detailed presentations on both the days on the whole process of registration and the subsequent award of the PMSSS. They also dwelled on the possible issues and errors that a candidate might face during the registration and the resolutions thereof.
The event concluded with a rigorous question answer session in which participants expressed their doubts with respect to the scheme and also suggested ways to make things better for the potential beneficiaries.
