Conducts meeting with stakeholders, line departments: takes stock of preparedness for upcoming yatra
ANANTNAG: To ensure smooth and successful conduct of the Amarnathji Yatra (SANJY) 2023, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag S.F Hamid convened a meeting of officers from all line departments and various stakeholders to discuss various activities related to the yatra.
The stakeholders including tent holders, ponywalas, pethuwallas, palkiwalas, labourers and other service providers assured the DC of their cooperation and support while also suggesting ways to further enhance the quality of services being offered to the devotees.
Speaking at the meeting, the DC emphasized the spiritual and religious importance of the yatra as well as great reputation of Kashmiris in general and people of Anantnag in particular for displaying exemplary hospitality. He pledged all efforts would be put in place to provide the pilgrims with the best possible services.
To prevent malpractices such as overpricing and overcharging, the committee under the chairmanship of DC fixed rates for the service providers of SANJY 2023.
The DC also stressed the need for provide quality facilities to yatris at every transit and halting station, including drinking water, toilet facilities, sanitation, proper bedding in tents, cleanliness in and around tents, and good-quality, waterproof tents en route to the yatra.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination between officers and service providers during the yatra period, calling on them to give their best to ensure that SANJY 2023 is conducted smoothly and efficiently. The administration is fully prepared to hold the yatra successfully, and every step is being taken in this regard, he added.
The meeting was attended by ADC (A), SP, CEO PDA, CAHO, DFO SDM Pahalgam, ACR Anantnag, ACL, ARTO, AD Food, and other line department officers besides the service providers.
