Says prog aims at involving all stakeholders for holistic development of villages
BARAMULLA: With an aim to achieve sustainable development of villages, special Gram Sabha meetings were organised today in all panchayats of the district wherein the concerned stakeholders including PRIs, Prabhari Officers, heads of line departments, frontline workers among other prominent sections of the society ensured enthusiastic participation.
The Gram Sabha meetings were aimed at to discuss and finalize Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) wherein the line departments presented their respective development plans for socio-economic development of our panchayats.
At Baramulla, Back to Village nominated Prabhari Officer, Secretary Tourism and Culture, Dr Syed Aabid Rasheed Shah, participated in the event at Kanispora Panchayat-A and interacted with the people and listened to their developmental aspirations.
Addressing the function, the Prabhari Officer urged upon all the officers and field functionaries of Rural Development Department to work in tandem for smooth implementation of Gram Panchayat Development Plan ensuring holistic development of the district.
He elaborated that the objective of holding the session was to shape the already made GPDP of panchayats in the district which shall touch the development of economy, status and living standard of the people. He asked the participants to think beyond common works like protection bunds and drains and make innovative ways for effective development of the villages.
Dr Syed Abid also highlighted the role of PRIs and other functionaries in resource mobilization. He said that several initiatives are being taken up to make our panchayats self reliant in terms of national goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
