4th Edition of the National Academia Industry Conclave held at IUST

AWANTIPORA:  Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) hosted National Academia Industry Conclave 4.0 today, to forge partnerships between academia and industry, and strengthen the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region.

The Conclave was inaugurated by Sakeena Itoo, Minister of Education, J&K who commended the initiative and said that the effective collaboration between academia and industry is the need of the hour.

Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to Chief Minister, and Balbir Singh, General Manager, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), were the Guests of Honour at the inaugural function. In his address, Wani praised the university’s achievements and advocated establishment of a dedicated sports academy at IUST. Singh underscored the crucial role of industry support in the growth of entrepreneurial initiatives and highlighted the importance of nurturing talent within academic institutions.

In his address, Prof. Shakil A Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST said that the strategic plan of IUST places special focus on nurturing innovation and skilling among the youth.  He highlighted the value of strategic collaborations and IUST’s steadfast commitment to becoming a regional hub for research and development. Prof. A.H. Moon, Dean Academic Affairs said that IUST remains dedicated to advancing knowledge, driving innovation, and bridging the gap between academia and industry for sustainable development in the region.

During the Conclave, IUST launched the CIED – IUST Annual Report, highlighting the achievements and milestones of the CIED-IUST Foundation over the past year. The special issue of Times ECHO, produced by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication was also released. Additionally, four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between IUST and industry/academia partners including Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), Government Degree Colleges Pulwama & Tral and Iqbal Institute of Technology & Management Srinagar).

To recognize outstanding innovation and entrepreneurial talent, the university presented Best Start-up Awards across five categories, that included Best Performing Global Start-up to GR8 Sports India Pvt Ltd, Best Women Led Start-up to Al-Rizq Foods, Best Agri-Tech Start-up to Wani Farming Tools, Best Tech-Based Start-up to Dynaapple Labs, Best Emerging Start-up to Jolly Foods and Bhat Crockery World.
