JAMMU: The three day 35th J&K UT Junior Volleyball Championship for boys and girls was today declared open by Secretary J&K Sports council, Nuzhat Gul here at M.A Stadium.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the championship, the Secretary Sports Council underlined the importance of sports in empowering the youth and spreading awareness about the fallout of social evils.
Earlier welcoming the dignitaries General Secretary VAJK, Vijay Kumar Magotra gave an account of three day championship which is spread over in two venues focusing on completion of as many as 60 matches during the championship. He also disclosed that the association conducts two JKUT level championships one for seniors and other for juniors.
The matches are being conducted by a panel of recognized referees of Volleyball Federation of India and State referees including S. Amarjeet Singh, Mulkhraj Sharma, Amit Sharma, Neeraj Sharma, Intizar Ali, Mohammad Shabir, Sidharth Hussain, Wasim Akram, Parvinder Singh, Manzoor, Jagit Singh, Shah Faisal, Abdul Qayoom.
