SRINAGAR: The authorities here have tightened noose against the minor drivers, who are found driving the e-rickshaws in Srinagar and claimed to have seized 25 such vehicles on Saturday in a bid to ensure that the norms are followed in letter and spirit.
A special drive was launched in Srinagar today by the traffic department led by the Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police Srinagar, Mehboob Ul Haq, who stated that the drive has been launched against those who are operating vehicles without a license, and particularly against the minors, who have been seen driving these vehicles.
Haq told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that around 25 e-rickshaws were seized today. “The drive will continue as several complaints have been received on the particular issue. Therefore, action as per the law will be initiated against the traffic norm violation,” he said.
He added that the owners of the e-rickshaws must obey the law and should not allow the minors to drive their vehicles. “Anyone found violating the law will face strict action,” he said.
Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police Srinagar, further appealed the people to inform police in case any violation is found in this regard.
