2 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar: Police

SRINAGAR: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir police in Srinagar on Tuesday said to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession.

“A police party of Police Post Banamohallah at a checkpoint established at Babdamb road near Stadium intercepted a vehicle (Venue) bearing registration number UP16CN-8991, coming from Barbarshah towards Babdamb, with two persons on board. During the search of the vehicle, 13 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered. Both the accused have been identified as Ilyas Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Ramzan Dar resident of Dar Mohallah Old Barzulla, Sanat Nagar and Manzoor Ahmad Dar son of Late Bashir Ahmad Dar resident of Tengpora Srinagar. They have been arrested and shifted to a police station. Vehicle used in the commission of crime have also been seized,” a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 50/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at police station and further investigation has been taken up.

Meanwhile, police urged people to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that Police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
